Olive backed Sunbird pattern to brighten up the day.
Have a beautiful week xoxo 💙💛💙💛
Today’s sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is of a common bird in Penang and around Malaysia which is the House crow. Crows are really intelligent birds, resourceful and they have a good memory but they attack the other birds and can be real pests.
When my brother and I were young, he threw a rock at a crow but it wasn’t killed so it went to tell all its friends about us. For about a week, everytime we left our house, a few of them would swoop down from the trees to attack us. It was traumatising. Think the birds from Alfred Hitchcock!
Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know. ~ Pema Chodron
Today’s sketch is a Malaysian wrinkled hornbill. I love birds and nature. This one was calling out to me for a sketch so I had to do it. I looked it up and learnt new things. My sketches are educating me on the stuff I like. Hornbills are magnificent and they mate for life! I liked learning about that. I am a romantic at heart 🙂
I’m not the only artist in the family. My mum painted too. Here is one of her bird paintings. She loved nature, her garden and the birds in them.
This is a fairly large painting. Acrylic on canvas. There are quite a few more. I will post them up slowly 🙂
Thank you very much to you my friends who have supported me during this time of loss and grieving for my mum. I have had really bad days and good ones. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me. I’m not great at sharing my feelings but I am trying to. It has been 4 months now and it gets better because I know her memory lives on xx
