My friend and I started a new blog over at PenangLocal.com bringing you an insiders guide to Penang island local travel tips. We just started it so it will get better and better over time.
Many people who are planning their trips to Penang always ask us to recommend places to visit, to eat, to stay, to do…so here is a website to point you to the right direction because often we are too busy to give you an answer.

Why my hometown of George Town, Penang is consistently voted as the world’s best place to retire.
I was born and grew up in Penang, Malaysia. It was a small sleepy island in those days and not many people knew anything about it. Today, it is consistently rated as the best place to retire. Why you might ask. Sometimes I ask the same question. So having grown up here, travelled the world searching and living in many different countries, I have decided to end up back home.
My top 10: Excluding the fact that the govt gives long term visas for Foreigners (MM2H)

So finally to the point of this article. If you are thinking of retiring abroad, Penang is probably your cheapest, safest option. Did I mention that Malaysia has no worldwide tax? and no estate duty?

The Social Visit Pass is initially for a period of ten (10) years, and is renewable.
Eligibility
It is open to citizens of all countries recognised by Malaysia regardless of race, religion, gender or age. Applicants are allowed to bring their spouses and unmarried children below the age of 21 as dependants.
