White flag movement in Malaysia #BenderaPutih

White flag movement Malaysia #BenderaPutih

The White Flag Movement, started by Malaysians, is a way to seek assistance from the community.
Raise the white flag if you need help.
We stand together in Solidarity to look after each other. πŸ™

The pandemic and lockdown has been difficult for all of us and many people everywhere are struggling to survive.

In Malaysia, people are struggling to survive, many are going hungry with no hope of help in sight.

The White Flag Movement gives a voice to those silently suffering and it’s a visual cue to reach out to their community without begging or being judged. It’s a lifeline and help has quickly been pouring in to assist those in need.

This movement is bringing Malaysians together, uniting us with a common mission to carry each other through the bad times. We have to help ourselves because nobody else is going to save us.

The unity and solidarity sparked by this movement, however heartbreaking the stories emerging may be, has shown me hope, hope of a better caring society, and a more profound belief in Humanity. πŸ™

A heartwarming Malaysia day story πŸ‡²πŸ‡ΎπŸŒΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ

A heartwarming Malaysia day story.

As we were driving home, my friend noticed a lady standing by the side of the road next to her car and asked me to stop to check if the lady needed help. (I secretly didn’t want to stop because we hear of stories of how it’s a trap where you get robbed by hidden thugs. I still have ptsd from my past experience) Anxiously I stopped the car…
My friend Belinda James went to ask the lady if she was OK and found out that she had a flat tyre.
“Do you want to help her?”
“I can’t help, I don’t know how to change a tyre!”
“I do, it won’t take long” replied my friend Belinda.
“Oh ok then” I replied feeling helpless.
My friend went back to the lady and helped her to move the car out of a dangerous spot and continued with the mission.
I was still sitting in my car with, it was raining.
Soon after I noticed a guy on a bike had stopped and was talking to them.
At that point I got out of the car to start recording. My own bias was what if the guy is going to rob us? I felt a bit anxious to be honest.
As time passed, it appeared that he was genuinely helping to change the tyres and he did an extremely thorough job.
At the end, the Indian lady offered him some money but he refused to the point the lady had to force him to take it.
This story really gave me some faith back in humanity at a time when I needed it.
Thank you Azrin. You not only saved the Indian Auntie but you saved me too.

Happy Malaysia day. To peace and unity πŸ™

Bruno the Labrador

It’s been 53 days since lockdown. It’s hard to be positive during this challenging time with so much uncertainty in the world, so I decided early on to focus on my own mental health and my art instead which brings me so much joy.

Thank you my friends who have supported me financially with these Pet portrait commissions. It certainly has helped πŸ™

We are all like the bright moon, we still have our darker side ~ Khalil Gibran.

This drawing is in honour of ourselves on the super flower full moon.

For 50 days, we have been under lockdown in Malaysia. It has been a valuable time of self reflection, time spent in my head looking inwards, not always happy moments, not always easy moments, but one thing is certain is that I have made it through feeling stronger, grateful and blessed for the life that I have.

I wish and hope that we have all grown from the world’s darkest 50 days.

I think you are the only person I know who has covered the most areas of my life. You have been a friend, a neighbour, a colleague, a client and a travelling buddy. That is definitely a true test of friendship. Thank you for our friendship and being a supporter of my art. Your sincerity, generosity and kindness are qualities that are priceless. Love you always. πŸ’›

‘Still, I rise” ~Maya Angelou

It’s covid-19 lockdown day 46/56 in Malaysia.

This week I’m dedicating flowers to the strong women in my life. I don’t thank my friends and family enough or tell them why they are important to me in my life, so I’m taking this opportunity during lockdown to remedy this. ⭐

Thank you for being my pillar of strength, for sharing this topsy turvy life on Earth with me, for the laughter and the tears. Thank you for all our insightful conversations and I’m so blessed to have you on this journey. This is my longest lasting friendship and I will cherish it forever, love you always πŸ’œ
