Queens Platinum Jubilee art series #1

The Queens Guard

It’s the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations this week and to mark this occasion I started a new series of paintings on an old Street map of Great Britain.

This first one is of the Queens Guard featuring Stewart the Seagull, painted in watercolour.

Pink Peranakan floral vase

Pink Peranakan floral vase

Finally finished this painting of a Peranakan floral vase on a recycled wooden shelf divider over the weekend. It’s taken quite a long time because I was stuck for months but I decided it was time to get it done. Feels good to complete this. I’m hoping to be more productive moving forward πŸ™πŸŒΈ

Portrait of Jill Nalder

Portrait of Jill Nalder

Happy international women’s day.
I painted this Portrait of actor and activist Jill Nalder yesterday along with Portrait artist of the week series. Jill’s real life inspired Russell Davies hit TV drama series “It’s a sin” about HIV and AIDS in the 80s.

Portrait artist of the week : Clive Myrie

Portrait of Clive Myrie

Today’s portrait painting is of Clive Myrie.
I’m calling it a night. I’ve been drawing and painting all Sunday and I finally feel productive for the first time this year.
Thank you to Artist of the year for this wonderful programme for the art community to come together to paint every Sunday. It’s really a joy amidst this depressing lockdown.

Peach face lovebirds

Peach face lovebirds

Happy Monday!
Today has been productive. I finally completed this Pet portrait commission of 6 lovebirds. I needed this to motivate myself to start painting.
It’s been such a struggle to stay in the right mindset to create. The most important lesson for me is to not slide too far down into the abyss. Everyday I catch myself from falling by adding and allowing activities that bring me joy.
Stay safe and stay sane my friends πŸ’š

Portrait commission for my December charity drive #3

Portrait commission for December

And it’s a wrap for 2020. πŸŽ‰
My third and final completed portrait commission, should be arriving in the UK anytime now.
Thank you to my friend Amanda for supporting my December charity drive β™₯
For December, I’m donating 50% of all portrait commissions to my charity of choice, which is the House of Hope in Penang.
It is a community centre that helps the hardcore poor by giving them somewhere to go for food, for help and their children are cared for and sent to school. More importantly it’s a safe space to make sure people within the community are looked after.
The lady who runs this place has been doing this for a long time and I know that every penny donated is given back into running this centre.

This charity connects me to my own dad who passed away 8 years ago. He did a lot of work for people in this constituency and he taught me to always give back.

Portrait commission for my December charity drive #2

Portrait commission

My second completed portrait commission of my art patron.
She’s been asking me to paint her ever since I started painting second season of portrait artist of the week but I kept refusing, until finally last week I said yes. Thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone and supporting my December charity drive β™₯
