White flag movement in Malaysia #BenderaPutih

White flag movement Malaysia #BenderaPutih

The White Flag Movement, started by Malaysians, is a way to seek assistance from the community.
Raise the white flag if you need help.
We stand together in Solidarity to look after each other. 🙏

The pandemic and lockdown has been difficult for all of us and many people everywhere are struggling to survive.

In Malaysia, people are struggling to survive, many are going hungry with no hope of help in sight.

The White Flag Movement gives a voice to those silently suffering and it’s a visual cue to reach out to their community without begging or being judged. It’s a lifeline and help has quickly been pouring in to assist those in need.

This movement is bringing Malaysians together, uniting us with a common mission to carry each other through the bad times. We have to help ourselves because nobody else is going to save us.

The unity and solidarity sparked by this movement, however heartbreaking the stories emerging may be, has shown me hope, hope of a better caring society, and a more profound belief in Humanity. 🙏

Haw flakes

Haw flakes. A Chinese candy made of Hawthorn. This was a childhood staple.
Lockdown hasn’t been easy on any of us and I hope my illustrations of childhood sweets will bring back some good memories for all of us to push through some challenging moments.

What’s better than a superhero mask?
Eyeglass candy. It’s a superhero eye mask and it has chocolate candies when you’re hungry after fighting off monsters.
Ya, it could be another Malaysian childhood thing.

Into the forest I go…

I love the natural world and going for hikes in our tropical rainforest.
As an artist, I find much of my inspiration from nature.
Our rainforests are one of the oldest in the world and it is home to many species of plants, birds, insects and wildlife.
This trail is a city green lung which is such a gem and is something I am grateful to have as our rainforests are fast disappearing.
Follow me into the forest and fall in love with our jungle with me 💚

Please subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss out on future videos and help support my cause to make everyone love nature.

Kitchen Qing : Crane rice bowl

Crane rice bowl lid

Kitchen Qing: blue and white porcelain used for simple meals.
Steamed rice is a staple food in Chinese culture especially for the Southern Chinese who migrated to South East Asia in the 18th and 19th century because of civil wars, hardship and starvation.
The free trade between imperial China and Malaya under the British empire attracted many Chinese to move there as labourers.
Sketch of the day no 1264 in my moleskine sketchbook is of a Crane rice bowl lid.

Happy Chap Goh Mei. Last day of Chinese new year.

Chinese New year with lion troupe

Happy Chap Goh Mei. Today is the 15th and final day of Chinese new year celebrations. It falls on the snow moon and this auspicious day is also our Chinese Valentine’s day.

Today was such a joyful day chasing lions and dragons with Chelsia Ng 🤗

I’m so sad that the lunar new year celebrations have come to an end, but I do hope the year of the pig will be a whole year of celebrating happiness, success and love for us all.

And yes, we believe in magic and unicorns 🍊🌕💛🎑💚🙏
