Covid-19 lockdown pet portraits series: Bruno the Labrador

Bruno the Labrador

It’s been 53 days since lockdown. It’s hard to be positive during this challenging time with so much uncertainty in the world, so I decided early on to focus on my own mental health and my art instead which brings me so much joy.

Thank you my friends who have supported me financially with these Pet portrait commissions. It certainly has helped 🙏

I have looked up to you like a sister when we were kids and followed you everywhere. I have a huge scar on my head from too much play, but it’s taught me to be able to pick myself up from every fall, and that experience will always connect me to you.
Our paths have criss-crossed throughout time and place and here we are both artists because you have lead the way and your courage, your independence and your free spirit, have inspired me to follow my own dreams. Thank you for our friendship. I love you always. 💕

This week I’m dedicating flowers to the strong women in my life. I don’t thank my friends and family enough or tell them why they are important to me in my life, so I’m taking this opportunity during lockdown to remedy this. ⭐

Sketch of the day no 1352 in my moleskine sketchbook : Voodoo Lily, a flower that smells like death in order to protect it’s being. This is for my bestie Lily who is full of life, quirky ideas and unafraid to get her hands dirty to get right to the core of life. We’ve had some fun adventures exploring creepy back lanes in our home town to picnicking on the banks of Basel. Thank you for your fierce loyalty and integrity. Love you lily ❤️

I am grateful for my safety. Thank you team Firefly ♡

The crew of Firefly

Yesterday I flew  FIREFLY from Penang to Subang but the plane could not land due to bad weather. The plane circled Subang airport for 20 mins. Captain Zainal decided that we had to fly back to Penang before we ran out of fuel. We arrived back to where we started. Refueled. Tried again and finally 3 hours later, arrived at Subang, safe and sound. I am grateful. Thank you to the Firefly team
Coincidentally I took these photos of the Firefley crew before the incident. I woke up in the morning and some higher powers compelled me to do this. Now it makes sense… or does it?

Sketch of the day no 500 in my art journal: Hola! I feel so alive.
Today is a huge milestone for me. 500 sketches and still going. I remember my first few sketches almost 2 years ago. I was in provence when my mentor Floating Lemons inspired me to start this sketch a day challenge. To be honest, I was happy completing my first week of sketches and never did I think that I would still be sketching today. It goes to show how strong an engine passion is. ♡
