JIMMY NELSON – PHOTOGRAPHER

Jimmy Nelson (UK, 1967) started working as a photographer in 1987. Having spent 10 years at a Jesuit boarding school in the North of England, he set off on his own to traverse the length of Tibet on foot (1985). The journey lasted a year and upon his return his unique visual diary, featuring revealing images of a previously inaccessible Tibet, was published to wide international acclaim.

Sketch of the day no 697 in my art journal is a flyer for my friends pop up bar. The Lotus Lounge, Penang

Sketch of the day in my art journal is a flyer for my friends pop up bar. The Lotus Lounge at 92 Love lane, Penang. A last minute decision to chase away the Monday blues and to celebrate George Town Festival our own way!

We even managed to make some last minute merchandise for ourselves and guerilla marketing in less than 24 hours. I made the flyer in the early morning, printed it out and we stuck it in town. Cut out stencils for the t shirts which we bought at the local mydin store. All made in Penang with love. We also recruited a chef from Belgium who served up healthy chicken and veggie wraps and a few artists provide a creative vibe 🙂

It’s like magic when we work together as a team xoxo

Crochet bombing crafty street art by Magda Sayeg on Armenian street, George town, Penang

imageI spotted this crochet vintage VW caravan on one of my regular walks around George Town heritage site. (quite hard not to spot)

It is by crochet/yarn bombing queen Magda Sayeg. Check out her website Www.magdasayeg.com

I’m not sure how long it took her but my fingers would have seized up after an hour of crocheting!
