Happy Monday and hello February.

Love blooms in its own time.

Sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is of a pink flower.

If you can identify what this plant is please do let me know! I saw it in the garden shop in Malaysia but it didn’t have a label on it and I forgot to ask them.

Sketch today in my #moleskine art journal is musa coccinea flower or red flowering banana flower. It is a tropical plant. This botanical illustration was a challenge by Award winning Artist Sharon Siew of Sharonsskow Pencil Art

I added a positive quote: Nature does not hurry. I am back on my little island of Penang and enjoying island life. Stress is bad for your health. Remember to take time off and be with nature. Nature heals and feeds your soul xoxo

I based this sketch from Wikipedia because I have never seen on before.

Sketch of the day no 385: Tiger Lily Flower Lilium Auratum

Tiger Lily Flower
Tiger Lily Flower

I wished I was as fresh as a Lily today but I feel more like a wilted flower. A friends wedding and a birthday party all in one night has zapped me of whatever life I had left! This is what happens when you hit your 40s. My mind thinks I can party but my body outright refuses. It tells me to crawl back into my cave where I belong…

Hope your Sunday will be more delightful than mine xx

I received a bouquet of orchids as a thank you at the unveiling for the Chairity chairs on Thursday at the Edge Galerie. This is a drawing of the two types of orchids, orange mokara and tiger orchids. Orchids are so beautiful 🙂

Sketch of the day no 339: Bunga Raya or hibiscus, Malaysia’s National flower

Hibiscus
Hibiscus

Hibiscus or locally known as Bunga Raya is Malaysia’s national flower. The red of the petals symbolizes the courage, life, and rapid growth of the Malaysian, and the five petals represent the five Rukun Negara or five principles of Malaysia.

  1. BELIEF IN GOD
  2. LOYALTY TO KING AND COUNTRY
  3. SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION
  4. RULES OF LAW
  5. COURTESY AND MORALITY

The red hibiscus flower features in the Malaysian Bank notes as seen below.
