Sketch of the day no 712 in my Daler Rowney art journal is of my favourite red wine from Umamu Estate in Margaret River. 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon
Quote of the day “Balance and contement”, Umamu Estate
Cheers! xx
Sketch of the day in my Daler Rowney art journal is the local Malaysian Eagle King Brand which makes basic apparel.
I love to blog about local brands and the icons that they use. This one is of a flying eagle. You won’t find this anywhere else. It’s not like a designer or high street brand that has gone global.
Quote of the day: I wish I had wings
Today’s sketch of the day in my Daler Rowney art journal was an easy choice. It’s of a Yellow Longhorn Beetle that walked across my desk.
Sometimes I have to look for my subjects and sometimes my subjects come to me! If it lands on my desk, it’s a sure sign that i will capture it in my sketchbook and blog about it to the world! (no insects were harmed in the drawing of this)
Happy weekend xoxo
Today’s sketch of the day in my Daler Rowney art journal is of a Vintage seal embosser I saw at the Penang state museum from the set of British TV series Indian Summers, and a modern single hole punch I have at home.
I thought the vintage cast iron seal embosser was a hole punch but clearly it isn’t! Learnt something new today.
You would have thought it would be clearly labelled at the museum but to be fair, the museum is in the process of moving buildings and we found an office where time stood still 🙂
Today’s sketch of the day in my Daler Rowney art journal is of an Incense and leaf holder that I use to ward the mosquitoes away as I sit and sketch in the garden.
I’ve also been learning about time. Western linear time vs Eastern circular time. The western concept is all about meeting deadlines and controlling time. The eastern concept is about patience. Time cannot be controlled and things will happen when it is meant to be.
As an artist I have to embrace both. I need schedules to move forward and tick my to do list off. It gives some structure and discipline to my life. On the other hand, I have to have patience to accept that things will not happen until it is ready. I cannot force inspiration nor magic.
