Portrait of the week: Samira Ahmed. “Samira Ahmed is a British journalist, writer and broadcaster at the BBC, where she has presented Radio 3’s Night Waves and Radio 4’s PM, The World Tonight, Sunday and Front Row and has presented the Proms for BBC Four. “Wikipedia I had to Google who this amazing person was as I watched and listened to the live stream of Portrait artist of the week. I love how this show gives a platform to not only artists but the sitters are always someone interesting and accomplished in their field.

I love George Town Festival. Every year I visit the events and review them on my blog. My friends ask me about which exhibitions to visit because they see on facebook that I’ve been to them all and I’ve done the leg work. As an artist based in Penang, it is incredible to have a month long arts festival. It is the time for me to see what other creatives are doing and to share ideas.

Sometimes I have to look for my subjects and sometimes my subjects come to me! If it lands on my desk, it’s a sure sign that i will capture it in my sketchbook and blog about it to the world! (no insects were harmed in the drawing of this)
