I almost forgot to draw these beautiful orchids. I had to Google them to remember the name. I call them cup orchids but they are actually Paphiopedilum, often called the Venus slipper. They look more like cups than slippers to me ðŸ¤

Quick sketch in between puppy duties. I’m fostering a couple of puppies for a few months.
Another native fragrant flower mostly grown in temples and gardens because they are believed to bring wealth to the family. The plant is also used as natural anticipectic and anti inflammatory.

I simply love the name of this tree. I think the name comes from the silhouette of the tree but I could be wrong 🤔

These trees are fairly common in Penang. They are easy to spot as well because they are tall and you can see the hanging pods from far.

It’s been a haze free weekend and I’m grateful for the fresh air. It doesn’t mean the forest fires from plantation clearing have stopped, it just means the wind direction has changed. Trees and nature should be protected and respected.
There are many heritage trees in Penang which I love and here’s one of them that is found in both the old and new worlds.
