It’s so easy to give up when the going gets tough. I’ve wanted to give up so many times. Sometimes It’s hard work to keep going but I can’t imagine doing anything else.

Stay as you are! ~ Stephen James Smith.
Sketch of the day no 1004 in my moleskine art journal is of a crepe ginger. Cheilocostus speciosus
The art of creating live from George Town Literary Festival, Penang.
I got this quote from Stephen James Smith, an Irish Poet who was at the festival for my sketch of the day.
Sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is of a wild heritage tree which was named after Penang. Locally known as Durian daun tajam. Durio pinangianus. The tree has pinky orange flowers and a spikey fruit similar to the domestic durian but there’s not much flesh for eating. It is the lesser know cousin.
Sketch today in my #moleskine art journal is musa coccinea flower or red flowering banana flower. It is a tropical plant. This botanical illustration was a challenge by Award winning Artist Sharon Siew of Sharonsskow Pencil Art
I added a positive quote: Nature does not hurry. I am back on my little island of Penang and enjoying island life. Stress is bad for your health. Remember to take time off and be with nature. Nature heals and feeds your soul xoxo
I based this sketch from Wikipedia because I have never seen on before.
Back to sketching flowers in my moleskine notebook. My favourite subject. They are so beautiful and every single one perfect yet different. This is one of my favourite flowers, and my mum’s as well. Birds of Paradise or Strelitzia Reginae. It is a tropical flower, structural, striking orange with purple highlights. The flower resembles the birds of paradise.
This is a ginger flower. There are a few varieties. I walked up Penang Hill with some friends and found a ginger garden at BelleVue hotel. That’s where I discovered the ginger flowers.
The BBC is currently filming a tv series up here. The views are spectacular. Don’t blame them for choosing here.
Have a great weekend! xx
