Wishing all my muslim friends Selamat Berpuasa and Ramadan Mubarak

Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims

Wishing all my muslim friends Selamat Berpuasa and Ramadan Mubarak.

A poem by Rumi.

There’s a hidden sweetness
in the stomach’s emptiness.

We are lutes, no more, no less.
If the sound box is stuffed
full of anything, no music.

If the brain and the belly
are burning clean with fasting,
every moment a new song
comes out of the fire.

The fog clears, and a new
energy makes you run up the
steps in front of you.

Be emptier and cry like
reed instruments cry.
Emptier, write secrets with
the reed pen.

When you’re full of food and drink,
Satan sits where your
spirit should, an ugly metal
statue in place of the Kaaba.

When you fast, good habits gather
like friends who want to help.

Fasting is Solomon’s ring.
Don’t give it to some illusion
and lose your power.

But even if you’ve lost all
will and control, they come
back when you fast,
like soldiers appearing out
of the ground, pennants
flying above them.

A table descends to your
tent, Jesus’s table.
Expect to see it, when you
fast, this table spread with
other food better than the
broth of cabbages.

Wishing you love and light for Diwali

Diwali or Deepavali is the Hindu festival of lights celebrated every year in autumn in the northern hemisphere (spring in southern hemisphere).

One of the major festivals of Hinduism, it spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.[8][9][10] Its celebration includes millions of lights shining on housetops, outside doors and windows, around temples and other buildings in the communities and countries where it is observed.[11] The festival preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night of the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika in Bikram Sambat calendar. In the Gregorian calendar, Diwali night falls between mid-October and mid-November. ~ Wikipedia

Highgate wood in North London has many old oak trees. It’s a beautiful and magical place and is my favourite London park.

It’s London tree week and in celebration of trees all over London, there are interactive installations, tree tours and talks organised by London authority to remind us to appreciate them.

The secret of the Ankh reveals its magic to the believer.
So I’m sure you’ve realized that I love the British Museum and I had to go back again. My first trip was too rushed and my second trip was near to closing time. I feel a third trip is due at some point.
Sketch of the day is the Ankh. The symbol of life from the British museum collection. This is one of my favoirite symbols of all time and I truly believe in its magic x

Mandala: Spirited away.

mandala meditation : spirited away

Namaste. Today I drew my first Mandala with Jee Yoga – Journey for the Body Mind & Soul workshop. MANDALA is a spiritual and ritual symbol representing the universe. Creating mandalas are used to facilitate meditation in the Indian and Tibetan religions, allowing the individual to become one with the universe. My Mandala is titled Spirited away. This symbolizes my journey through life.

I don’t normally draw with other people so this was an interesting exercise. I really enjoyed the exchange and interaction.
