Self help

Currently revamping my website…and possibly my life…

I’m currently revamping my website because I am running out of storage …please be patient if you encounter glitches and please do let me know.

I also need your help. ALL IDEAS on how to improve my website are most welcome. I’m still going to use the free templates so I have to work within the perimeters.

When I started this blog in 2008, exactly a decade ago, I had no idea it would take me here today. My first few posts were of activities that I felt like sharing and my travels. It was like entering a dark room and trying to manoeuvre my way around.

In 2009 my friend and I decided to get creative and start on an art journey. I did a few sketches of animals which ended up on bags that I sold to friends over Christmas. I carried on doing this for a couple of years until it dawned on me that this is not what I was cut out to do.

In 2013, Mariana from FloatingLemons.com challenged me to a sketch a day project. This was the turning point. I enjoyed the daily sketches so much that I still sketch to this day, except no longer daily.

My daily sketches gave me a sense of purpose and direction in my life which I needed.

Fast forward to today and I am proud of all that I have accomplished so far. A successful first solo art exhibition in the bag.

The hardest part was and is always the beginning. Every time I embark on a new project, panic and fear of failure sets in.

My goal this year is to move forward with confidence and faith that I will achieve what I set out to do. I know I will still have that voice of self doubt and fear in my head but I will do my best to silence them.

Thank you to all of you for holding my hand along this journey. For the encouragement when I was close to giving up, for cheering me up when I was down, for sharing in my joy and my success.

I am truly grateful. 🙏🌹❤️

Sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is of a frangipani from my garden. I’ve seen grown this small cutting es into a little tree and i finally see it flowering. What a joy to be able to appreciate its beauty.

Another milestone. 5k followers on my instagram ❤️

Another milestone for me today. I finally reached 5,000 followers on instagram.

I am really grateful for this that people enjoy my art and that my journey has inspired many to do the same.

Follow your dreams and believe in yourself. This is what I have learnt to do with every sketch, step by step, I left my fears behind. X

Visiting relatives on Chinese New Year

image

Chinese new year is spent with loved ones and visiting relatives. I celebrated my own way. I went to visit my parents at the Catholic cemetary. The gates were locked so I watched pathetically from outside. Then I went to the Thai Buddhist temple Wat Chayamangkalaran to visit my grandparents and great grandparents. It’s been a tradition for as long as I can remember. My mum used to tell me to go visit them during CNY. I carried on the tradition.

What goes here again? Sorry I forgot…

This is so me! I am so forgetful ;p

somegirlandablog

Sorry its so late, like always I completely forgot!!! So this week I thought I would talk about being forgetful.

Everyone is forgetful, to some extent but I know for a fact that some are more forgetful than others. I think it is fair the say that there are different categories of forgetfulness. Here they are:

1. Your average Forget Me Not- “Oh no I forgot to put my watch on this morning”

2.The Numpty- “Awww man I brought my German book instead of my French”

3. The Plonker- “Poop, I forgot my packed lunch”

4.The Cotton Wool Head- “Oh, oh deary deary me I think I forgot to lock the front door this morning”

5.The Numbskull- “Shoot I left the car door open and the car is in the car park!!”

6.The Idiot- “Oh my… What have I done!!? I left the dog tied to the lamppost downtown!!!!!”

7.The…

DON’T LIVE WITH VIOLENCE

Never put up with verbal nor physical violence

Artists4Peace

If you are living with violence, you must protect yourself and your children and get out. We all go into a relationship feeling love and having dreams. Your wedding day was just what you had wanted it to be. You had a beautiful honeymoon and you were so happy and so in love. It was a perfect wedding night.

Now, you are dressing for dinner. The two of you had had such a lovely afternoon and a delicious dinner. People toasted you in the dining room and when the band began to place you danced in your husband’s arms. A nice man asked to dance with you, but your husband said no. He was pretty quiet for the rest of the evening.

He decided you were going to go up to your room. You didn’t really want to leave but tomorrow was sightseeing. He says nothing on the way to…
