Treasures of a Straits Chinese collection in their new home

I was invited to view my treasured artworks from Treasures of Straits Chinese collection in their beautiful new home and I learnt about the story of this couple’s love for each other.

My artworks couldn’t have chosen a better place in their hearts.

I’m so happy. Thank you 💝

The pieces bought were:

1. Love is in the air. The peony

2. Rise from the ashes. The phoenix

3. Feed my soul. The tiffin carrier

The meaning of these pieces of art matched them perfectly as if I had made it exclusively for them. Sometimes the world works in mysterious ways. I feel connected to them forever through my work and I know they will be great guardians to them.

Artwork completed. Here are some photos from the making of Lotus flower mural art for Sunalini yoga on Love Lane.
I was asked to paint a mural for my friend’s yoga studio. I chose the lotus because her name sunalini means good lotus.

Have you discovered the mosaic bubble ball chairs and koi fish pond by artist Adam Michalski for #GTF2014 secret garden project off Armenian street, Penang, Malaysia?

Officially titled Koi garden 2013 and Bubble chairs. The mosaic bubble balls and koi fish pond designed and made by artist Adam Michalski were commissioned for George town festival #GTF2014 for the secret garden project. I spoke the Adam before this was made, and I remember him telling me that he wanted to design something inspired by Gaudi. So here is the final result. What do you think?

I love the koi pond because it is maintenance free! This is a secret garden in the centre of George town and it should be looked after by the local community and for the people to enjoy. I am sure one of the requirements was that it should be maintenance free, so what a fabulous idea to make this a happy space!

Thank you for this Adam Michalski. Nice work!

Sketch of the day no 377: Mangostein and Rambutan in a bowl #Moleskine

Sketch of Mangostein and Rambutan in a bowl. These are my 2 favourite tropical fruits. They are seasonal, starting now.

I sketched this in Chiang Mai at the weekend. I don’t know how I even had time to do this. It was a hectic but fun wedding weekend. This was a bowl of fresh fruits the hotel placed out in my hotel room.

Below are some photos of the hotel. We stayed at Verandah Resort in Chiang Mai. It’s a beautiful resort and spa in the hills of Chiang Mai, with beautiful padi terraced grounds.  The service was faultless and the food was amazing. It was the perfect venue for a wedding and some R+R, if only I had some of that!

Sketch of the day no 153: Interior of office (Updated)

20130924-213133.jpg

I didn’t have time to do a normal sketch of the day. Today I was busy at site. I did some quick sketches of ideas whilst I was there.

Office Before
Office Before

The photo above is the office before I added the black painted stripes and chalk board paint from Murobond. It is a non toxic water based acrylic paint that is odorless.

The photo below shows how just some painted stripes can tie the interior space together making it more seamless and have focus points. If you have a small office, the layout and flow is important. Add lot’s of storage space. You can never have enough!

Grand Designs Live at Excel #London May 4 – 12

Thanx to Dwell furniture who gave us the com tickets to visit Grand Designs live. My friends and I decided to go since the weather was awful and we thought it would be nice to spend a few hours indoors looking at furniture. We were pleasantly surprised by the diversity of the exhibition which isnt really highlighted on the website. My favourite was the individual designers who had their own section. There were very talented crafts people being showcased, not just big brands we are all familiar with.
