Selamat hari raya

Wishing all my Muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya and Eid Mubarak ✨🌙

This is a drawing I did recently on IG live with my beautiful friend singer songwriter Chelsia Ng. She is the sunflower and I am the moon. There is a traditional ketupat, rice wrapped in palm leaf in the background which is a typical dish served in Malaysia during this celebration. 🌻🌙

This year, out of solidarity, I have followed the Ramadan fasting with my friends, except I allowed myself water as is my first time. The fasting is similar to intermittent fasting. You can eat between 720pm and 540am, when the sun sets. I think if I didn’t have the water, it would have been more of a challenge. Exercising was not easy either, I timed it so that I would exercise just before breaking fast and incorporating a 20 mins meditation session at 7pm.

Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and heightened devotion and worship.  I took this on in a non religious way because i believe it has much to teach. I focused on self growth and gratitude. I enjoyed the experience so much that I think I will make this a yearly practice. It was indeed rewarding and I found a sense of belonging ✨🌙
