It is true, we have learnt the conventions but I’ve never been one to stick to it

It’s beautiful.

Which does “prove” that so much of our lives are mere conventions. 🙂 Which leads me, personally to be very “open” to such conventions. “Ah. Ok. Here it it’s 13 months? Fine with me.” The key point as I’m sure you learnt from an early age is to understand what the conventions are and act accordingly. (Says the Frog with a Posh accent)

Interesting calculations of time isn’t it

In Ethiopia, the Christians (going back to the 9th century) have a 13 month calendar. The last month, around Christmas is shorter and makes up for the days “lost” in the lunar calendar.
September 11, 2019 at 12:43
It’s still 12 months but some years there is a double lunar month so 13 months.
September 4, 2019 at 22:01
How many months are there in a year then? The lunar month is shorter.

Yes the Chinese follow the lunar calendar.

Goay. OK. I wonder how it is pronounced. The Chines concept of tones still defeats me. 🙂 It makes sense that it mean both moon and month. The Chinese calendar is Lunar right?

Thank you for confirming. Makes me very happy. You deserve to be. ❤

So your mother told about about “Bulan”? No wonder She (Bulan) is so important to you. I may have asked you once: what is the Hokkien word for Moon?

I love everything moon related. It reminds me of the Chinese stories about the moon my mum used to tell me as a child. The versions changed all the time as she made them up 😂
