There are plenty of outdoor activities for the adventurer in Penang.
Today I spent the afternoon hiking to Pantai Kerachut and a boat trip to Monkey beach for a relaxing drink by the beach before heading home.
Taman Negara Pulau Pinang is possibly the world’s smallest national park. It’s not a difficult hike and the trails are easy to follow and well marked. I highly recommend taking a boat trip back to the entrance at Teluk Bahang jetty.
It makes the overall experience better, I promise.

I saw some of your posts on Penang Hill on your other site. I wish I’d read them before I went to Penang, ha.

Indeed. Not many people know this.

I see, Penang Hill is much larger and more extensive than I thought.
August 11, 2018 at 19:23
It has more than a few hills but this route takes you across 3 of the highest peaks
August 10, 2018 at 15:14
That sounds insane to trek, ha. I didn’t know Penang Hill had 3 peaks.
August 9, 2018 at 06:08
No because the trail goes up and down 3 peaks so it makes no difference
August 7, 2018 at 13:44
That’s very true. Would it be easier to do it the other way around, starting from the mountain?
August 6, 2018 at 16:06
Yes but the planning part is the challenge 😜
August 2, 2018 at 14:14
True, good planning can make it happen.

Yes it is a long undulating hike which is why i haven’t done it and the route is unclear. It’s just a matter of planning. 😆

10 km is so long, especially going uphill. Wish you luck and hope you can do that.
July 30, 2018 at 03:53
Yes that could be the longest hike. 10km. Over 3 peaks of Penang Hill. I’ve never done it but hopefully soon.
July 29, 2018 at 16:15
Cool, I didn’t know there were trails that go all the way to Penang Hill. That must be an exhausting hike.
July 29, 2018 at 10:46
There are trails that are longer that veers off from that one and there are also plenty of trails in the forest reserve which some trails take you across to Penang Hill.

I saw there were other trails in the park so if I ever visit Penang again, I would like to try those. Yes, the turtle centre is rather small. It’s better to see turtles in the wild such as on the beach itself.

I do enjoy the hikes there but not roo keen on the turtle centre! 🐢
July 28, 2018 at 16:43
OK, good. I certainly did enjoy the hike a lot, even if the lake was dried up when I went. Visiting the little turtle center by the beach was nice too.
July 28, 2018 at 15:44
Yes it is the same! Hope you enjoyed the hike as much as I did 😁

I also hiked to this place (Meromictic Lake and the beach) when I went to Penang earlier this year. It was a very nice hike. I guess Pantai Kerachut is also called Turtle Beach?

Very beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I always find those outings to cleanse the mind. 🙂
