Today’s sketch is something I’ve been wanting to draw for a long time and finally here it is. Sketch of the day in my Daler Rowney art journal is of Suleyman the magnificent. I just love his outfit especially the headgear.
I learnt that only sultans wore the headgear and not any ordinary person.

Back to Istanbul, eh? You are lucky to have seen it with your own eyes.
I read somewhere that shape of the sultan’s turban was designed to resemble the shape of the tulip.
