Chinese New Year is just round the corner and most people have shut down for the weekend, mentally if not literally. Today’s sketch of the day is the Taoist Chinese God of Wealth. He blesses us with money and good fortune 🙂
He’s the god of wealth and fortune. Another one brings good luck and the third brings good health and longevity. I guess judge dee is wearing a similar costume from the same period
He is dressed like Judge Ti (or Dee? Zhu Xiao Di? Chinese subtlety in pronounciation beats me) by Robert Van Gulik. You can google the drawings.
May this one bring you fortune (and happiness. Or is that another god?)
🙂
Well, I am in Seattle now and will either head back to my home town or go up north to Alaska and watch the Northern Lights…you are free to join if you wish 🙂

Most probably. Look up the images. Van Gulik was a good writer and drafstman. 🙂
